First adventures in screenprinting on fabric

Yesterday I picked up the teatowels and fabric that I worked on last week during my screenprinting class. I printed on simple new teatowels as well as on white cotton fabric, all mainly for practicing. For a first try I was very happy with the results. They still need to be fixed with heat and washed before I can see how the final result is, cause the critical phase for these is if the ink will last after washing, but it's already exciting to see how a simple and cheap teatowel changes when you print a new image on it.

Of course this first bunch also had a lot of flaws, like below when the previous print sort of 'echoed' on the new one. A mistake, but it encourages me to experiment with printing more than one layer next time, cause I think the effect of a similar layer on top of the first one could be nice. So there's still plenty to try...

That's such a great idea printing onto cheap tea towels as you experiment. I'm booked in for a friendly screen printing session with a fellow maker and will look out for tea towels in the meantime, better than me messing up her lovely linens! Love the top one - turquoise and red - so very you, it matches your blog template beautifully!

About Ninainvorm

I'm Nina, ceramics designer, art/ craft/ design lover and mom of Rosa and Julie. This blog is about the things I make (you can find my online shop here) and the things I love (design, art, craft, interior, fashion, photography). You may have noticed a special emphasis on my two beautiful girls and everything children's design related!

There used to be a second blog on children's clothing, Coolkidsclothes, but it's currently sort of asleep and all the images have vanished temporarily, but I hope to revitalize it real soon.

Meanwhile, lovely children's clothing will be an important part of this blog here as well.
