Though he designed different kinds of furniture, I guess Finnish Ilmari Tapiovaara is especially known for his great chair designs, like the Pirkka and Mademoiselle. I think each of those chairs is like an iconic little piece of art, and though you see the simple chairs like the ones left on the first image quite often, they never bore me (in fact I've been asking myself how that's possible, cause a lot of things bore me easily!).
Ilmari Tapiovaara was one of the most well-known Finnish designers of his era. Though he died in 1999, quite some of his items are still in production. You can read all about this Tapiovaara family collection here.
