Swarm
Art and design | 21 November 2009 | 13:51:47

Leslie Oschmann worked as a visual director for Anthropologie, but started a new business called Swarm when she moved to the Netherlands. She now designs recycle furniture that she covers with patches of the canvas of old paintings, and the results are stunning...

Recycle designs like these always make me very curious, especially given the fact that I also use old materials for the things I make: would it be hard to find the old paintings for a reasonable price? Are there any specific places where old paintings go, or is it just a matter of keeping your eyes open everywhere you go? How would the original painters like it that their painting has found a second life on a chair?

Leslie's chairs are for sale at anthropologie and The Conran shop.
