I do not have any solutions for keeping sane - I take each breathless moment as it happens, and hope to get through the day!

But visits to cheerful, happy and beautiful places like your blog (your home) do help. And make me forget the mess behind me for a few moments, which helps to keep me sane for a few moments.

I love: reading blogs and design magazines, browsing the vintage section on etsy, visiting mid century modern furniture/ accessories stores, decorating my home and cooking with my 4year old.

well now let me see dearest nina, how do i keep sane in this world.

for me there are several things that help me keep my sanity,

there is yarn and fabric, without the ability to touch it on a daily basis i start to get rather 'unsettled' in my state of mind.

then there are my animals, for they listen to me, they love me, they never judge me and they never talk back. quite possibly the best companions one could ask for

and

then last but by no means least, there is my family, which to tell the truth often can drive me to the brink of insanity when our lives are crammed so full of 'comings and goings', but i can tell you without them i would not be who i am today for they make me whole :)

 

so there we have it, quite a ramble, but this ramble would not be complete without a "happy birthday to you", seriously you 'spring chicken', did you think i wouldn't say it!!

I love the way you stop and really think about something and view it from all angles before coming up with your own ideas rather than following the crowd.  Every day I need my dose of colours and wonderful things in life. Porcelain with bright colored pictures is lovely along nice crocheted things (I'm working on a 14 colour blanket right now), or why not homemade fun jewelleries, nice tins or all other things making you smile even the faintest. Those are the things that together with lovely friends and family that makes going to bed every evening a prospect of a fortunate waking uo the next morning. Thank you for you lovely work that intrigues me and make me happy.

Hoe ik hier ooit terecht gekomen ben weet ik niet, wel weet ik dat ik al een tijdje met groot plezier op visite kom. En ik weet ook dat jij de vierde persoon bent die ik ken die op 9 november jarig is, populaire datum. Ik ben ook 27, populaire leeftijd ;-) Eigenlijk zou ik jóu een bedankje moeten sturen: jij hebt het voor elkaar gekregen dat deze dame fotolijm heeft gekocht, allerlei soorten papier heeft verzameld en een collage in elkaar heeft geflansd. Hulde!

 

PS. Ik was zaterdag in de loods van Freaky Furniture, waar ik twee geweldige cocktailstoeltjes en fifties kapstok heb gekocht. Ik zag een tafeltje staan waar ik voor viel - ergens vaag in mijn hoofd dacht ik: ik heb zo'n zelfde tafeltje ergens gezien, maar weet niet waar. Helaas was het (nog) niet te te koop. Nu zie ik de eerste foto bij deze log en weet het: het was jij!

Hi! I found this blog this summer while googling around looking for Figgjo Folklore, which lead me to your blog because you apparently have a sugar container in that design. Since then I've been visiting quite often. I love art and vintage stuff, and I love colors so this blog just makes me happy. Also it inspires me quite a lot, which is both positive and negative, since I usually visit it while I should be studying, and then if I get inspired to do something creative I tend to through my books away and do something else :) But all in all, I love it. 

oh you happen to share a birthday with my brother, so it is a special date here too! World and sanity..... when the pills don't work, a trip to a fabric shop usually does the trick, faling that the bookshop, faling that the wool shop, faling that Haribo strawberries... well you get the idea.

I'm here because you're one of the few design-oriented blogs that I know where I actually visit equally for beautiful images AND interesting writing. You have a more personal (and therefore appealing) style, you put time into writing more than just a few lines and you manage to pick one thing after the other that makes me think "yes, exactly, that's what I've always wondered about, too". So. No happy birthday (only a little :-). But many thanks for the excellent writing.

And since you wanted to know: What keeps me sane is my little four months old daughter. I honestly don't remember how i kept myself sane before she was born. Probably i didn't fully succeed at that time anyway. A good recipe to bring you back to sanity (and happiness) though is this: invite over a dear friend, whip up a pot of bittersweet homemade hot chocolate, drop in some mini marshmallows and enjoy it together over a good long talk. The right music in the background would make this even more perfect.

 

Also: I adore your ceramics. Such an inspired idea.

Hm? My favorite artist? Frank Stella and Rex Ray. Neither are ceramists but they use color and shape in such exciting ways.  Kind of like you.  It's color and shape that inspires me the most in this world.  Playing with those two things is usually what keeps me sane, and maybe a kiss and hug from my sweetie too.

I hope I am not too late...well as we say in Russia it is better be late, than don'T come at all=).
