I found some beautiful blue interior inspiration over at OWI...
Also some lovely grey... (the kind of calm that I love but will never have in my own home!)
And some more blues! |

I've been writing about Jeanette's blog here before, and I'm pretty sure quite a lot of you already check her blog fryd+design, but for those of you who don't know Jeanette and her beautiful home (that makes you understand why the Scandinavian are so admired for their taste in decoration) yet, I just had to show the beautiful Tapiovaara Mademoiselle chairs that Jeanette recently added to her living room. Aren't these pink ladies beautiful?

A quiet escape from saturated color hell

All very nice to have a new printer with such brilliant & vivid colors, but I noticed that currently my blog is starting to become a bit of a saturated color-hell. Not that I don't like bright and cheerful colors (that would probably be the joke of the day if I said so), but I thought it was time for a little antidote. Therefore I'd like to show you a few pics from Ingrid's almost all-white bedroom (yes, she even gave us access to that place! ;)). What a calm, serene oasis that attic room was...

Wow, yay, lovely, amazing and wonderful

When I was talking to Ingrid and Yvonne yesterday, they told me that their husbands definitely didn't read & watch all their blog and flickr activity. I heard that before from other bloggers, so I guess it's kind of special that my boyfriend reads everything I post on this blog (at least that's what he says!), even though craft, art and design aren't his favorite topics at all. Probably I'm both a bit lucky and a bit screwed with that: on the one hand I enjoy his interest in what I do, while on the other hand it can sometimes be annoying to have such a critical reader at home...

Helmut prefers me writing about more serious social or personal topics, while he starts complaining when -in his view- I post about what he calls 'those lóvely pots and pans' too often. He always starts joking at me when my blog tends to become this euphorical 'wow-yay-lovely-wonderful-amazing-great-brilliant' praise-blog, as craft & design blogs often can be. In his view, our kind of blogs are a wee bit too sweet and uncritical. And though I often agree with him (all this praise can get so boring!), it's sometimes hard to avoid when you write about the things you like so much.
So this time I have to disappoint him again, leaving critical me at home for him to deal with... Cause I can only write in this little wow-lovely-beautiful-amazing-inspiring language about all the goodness I saw in Ingrid's home. But I think I let these pictures that I took tell that story for me!

How many toys, fun and color can one home bear?

I've been seeing a lot of colorful vintage toys and fun children's stuff in interiors lately, so I assume it's some sort of trend: using (vintage) toys as decoration material. But where does the playful home end and the vintage kindergarten begin? That's a question I sometimes ask myself regarding my own home, and the question also popped up when I saw Benjamin's home. A lot of features of his place are very appealing to me (in fact I think I love every seperate thing in the house!), and the collections are super impressive, but the place altogether also has a bit of a vintage toy shop feel over it.
I guess a lot of people who love collecting find it hard to limit themselves. And no, I'm not just talking of other people... ;)

 Hanging furniture

Lately 'hanging furniture' has been a bit of my obsession. It all started with my love for wicker hanging chairs, like the famous one by Danish designer Nanna Ditzel below. I can really picture this in my living room or on the roof terrace... but apparently a lot of people can, cause they're really hard to find for a reasonable price.
On my quest for more hanging furniture, I also found the ones below. The hanging chair on the right is or has been for sale at Habitat, I found the photo of the one on the left at Desiretoinspire, that did a nice post on hanging chairs already a few years ago. By the way Apartment therapy recently also showed some nice examples.
Though I like the wicker/rattan version of the hanging chair best, you can also go for a more spacy version, like Eero Aarnio's bubble hanging chair...
...Or Fermob's French-romantic version of the hanging chair. Imagine this one, hanging in a cherry tree orchard...
What other hanging furniture can be found, except of course for the obvious hanging lamp? Well, the hanging cradle, like this one from the Danish brand Leander!

 One simple eyecatcher

Though my own home may not be the best example of the 'one-eyecatcher-does-all'-thought, I really like it when a home or room is very basic, with one very special object or piece of furniture that gets all the attention. I think in this room the red-blue-yellow-lamp is such an eyecatcher piece, and even though in fact it is quite a simple design, it really makes the room special.

 The Juno bed

Ever since my sister is pregnant, I've been trying to convince her to buy a vintage Juno bed, or one of it's recent remakes. In vain, unfortunately, cause she's already found another bed. So if my sister doesn't listen to me, maybe the readers on my blog do? ;) Here's a little ode to the beautiful Juno bed!
For the Danish this is probably all old news, because I learnt that the Juno bed is more or less part of their collective memory. But I only saw the little children's bed for the first time a few years ago, and ever since I've seen it popping up in a lot of interior productions about Danish homes. The bed was designed in the beginning of the 1940s by the Danish designer Viggo Einfeldt. Unfortunately my Danish is not that good (though with my Dutch background I can understand a little of it), but there's this very informative Danish website about the 'Juno seng', where you can read all about it's history. Some information about the bed's history in English can also be found here.

One of the fun parts of the Juno bed is that's it's convertible into three different length settings, so that a child can stay in the same bed from baby to five or six years old (?... I'm not that into children's lengths!).
Though the original Juno bed isn't in production anymore, a lot of different reproductions are still being made in Denmark. With a bit of searching I already found the Sebra kili bed, the lille-per-seng and the new juno bed. A few weeks ago I also spotted the Noah bed, but that website seems to have vanished mysteriously... Maybe something with the copyright (cause I guess not every company can just start reproducing the original design)?
